Does anyone here have the factory toe rails on a 23SE? I want to add them this winter to my 2004 when they were not an option. Can someone please post or email me the measurements and a picture of how they are attached? Do I have to raise or remove the factory rod holders? I emailed the technicians at Parker but they have not answered me yet. Thanks all.

My friend's 2007 2320 has them. Next time I go over to his house, I will take some pics for you. On my 2006 2320, the lower gunnel rod holders do need to moved up to make room.

I considered adding them to mine but after talking to my buddy, he said they are just something elso to clean around. They look cool though---very Grady White.

I want to add toe rails, and also add a custon shelf, so I have some place to store my tuna squid rigs and daisy chains when underway. Rods in the rack will help keep them out from under foot but close enough for easy access. As far as I'm concerned, it's a little wasted space that I can use. I'm thinking about changing out the rod holders to the Taco brand ones if they have a little bigger inner circumfrence. An upgrade if you will. Then hanging two six foot long sections of starboard up top above the rod holders so I can attach my two big gaffs up under the gunnels. (I know what I want to say and do but it's tough to explain!) It's a project I'll do this fall.

By the way, anyone know what a 60 inch curved front coffin box will cost?

FWIW here are < $30 toe rails I added to my 'big girl'!

I also designed fender space above, so I really don't have the room for a custom shelf, but sure can imagine the practicality of them.

Very cool ideas...

The admiral has requested I remove the lowest fishing rod holder on my 23dvcc - pictured below. (She has consistently hurt herself while walking around and those metal holders are not kind to flesh)..

Seems like this would be an affordable improvement project. Does anyone know a common source for Trex (.. do hardware stores carry this stuff?). I'm going to measure to see if I can squeeze in a small shelf.

Dale - love your bumper storage idea.... I'm looking forward to stuffing a few up there!!!

Well stocked hardware stores and lumber outlets in my area carry it.

How true...had the same problem here. Easy to bust ankle on the foreward bottom round loop rod holder on each side. All you have to do is raise up both bottom holders to touch upper rod holder. Rods now angle up instead of level. I have seen women hit ankles at boat shows. Wonder how many Parker sales have been lost due to BAS. Busted Ankle Syndrome

You'll now have a storage for 8' gaff. It'll fit in rod holder in back, and jam in between 2 rodholders in front.

Seems to me items left on a shelf run in rod storage would get soaking wet, and bounce off shelf. :?

those rod holders arent all that. IMHO.
they are placed way too low not spaced correctly and can be tricky to open and close. surprised Parker hasnt come up with a better solution.
I suppose they are leaving it up to us.

If you don't get BAS, you're likely to get BRS if you leave a rod in the bottom holder. I've broken off a couple of rod tips by kicking them.

BRS-Busted Rod Syndrome

While other "Boat Branded" forums discuss bad wiring, spongy decks, various cracks and more, we discuss poor positioning of rod storage.

I can live with the rod holders just fine.

Excellent observation, and sooo true! :D
I love to see all of the "Parker personalization here...

I've had BAS and BRS!!! LOL!!!

Ok - did anyone notice this picture from "Kalm-C" in the leaning post - post further down the projects page? (additional pics too...)

It has a nice set of tow rails - FACTORY?? Doesn't look like a brush would get in there..... I wonder if thats a color we can buy off the shelf...

CHEERS!

FWIW when I made my battery shelf to move them from the lazarette to the starboard side transom ... I wetted out some MDO plywood with 2 coats of Raka epoxy, the 1st coat thinned to penetrate.

Then I painted it with West Marine's 1-part linear polyurethane paint in SAND color and it is very close to the Parker gelcoat coloration.
