Has anyone found a good heat gun/device for making shrink tubing connections on wiring terminals that they'd be willing to recommend? All the ones I've used in the past have pretty much been junk. I'd prefer something without a cord, but anything is better than using a lighter at this point

Thanks in advance!

Your wife's hair dryer is probably 1500 watts, or more.

Be sure to get some 5200 and some fiberglass resign on it....She will appreciate that. :)

Heat Shrink Tubing

Ancor Adhesive Lined, Heat Shrink Tubing is superior to conventional heat shrink tubing
It bonds tenaciously to insulating covers and terminals, producing strain relief that makes a stronger connection than the mechanical connection alone
Material: Ccross-linked polyolefin is stronger than PVC
Can shrink up to one-third of it's initial diameter
One size can be used for a variety of wire sizes
Waterproof adhesive is heat activated
Shrinks at 275° F, (below the temperature that insulation melts)
Shrinks from 3/4" - 1/4"

Ancor Heat Shrink Terminals

Cross Linked polyolefin tubing is much stronger than PVC tubing and will not burn like PVC. Heat activated adhesive lining provides impervious seal to salt water, oil, acids, and sunlight as well as providing strain relief. Highest shrink ratio - shrinks to 1/3 original size. Shrinks at 257° F/125° C. Operating temperature range of -40° C to 110° C.

Product Features:
Ancor's Marine Grade terminals differ from automotive terminals by being designed for harsh marine environment ( copper core)
Nylon insulators are easy to crimp and will not split
Barrels are designed to tightly grip the wire with the least effort
Tinned copper gives the least electrical resistance but the most corrosion protection
UL 486C
Nylon Insulated with Insulation Grip
Double Crimp, Funnel Entry

For what it’s worth, I bought this one. It’s sold as tool only, without the battery, but if you already have any of the DeWalt 20v tools it uses the same battery. I’ve been very happy with it so far for minor electrical projects. It is battery hungry, so it’s not going to work to strip paint, heat up something major, or anything like that, but for shrinking some heat shrink connectors for an installation, replacement, or whatever it works great, is really handy and it’s nice to not have the cord.
