The joys of being the 4th owner of a boat…

Since its winter I working on a plan on how to fill these holes, any suggestions on how I should proceed on filling or covering up the holes?
1. Fill and spray with touchup gelcoat, but I’m afraid it will look patchy.
2. Get some carbon fiber sticker wrap and cover it. Just the area from the lip to the edges, I believe its about 13” by 31”
3. Get a piece of ¼ inch matching starboard and cover the holes. Just the area from the lip to the edges, I believe its about 13” by 31”

Or should I try #1, then if that doesn’t come out to par then #2 then #3? Open to ideas and to what others have done.

Grind and drill
a little to open up hole and add a bevel then tape, gelcoat and sandwith various grits is what I did. I bought gelcoat with wax from Cecil. I tried an out of way hole first and used a small flexible spatula . You might to make some plugs, too

Easiest thing to do is cut a rubber mat to place on top of the panel. You can use the rubber for lining drawers with. it will also give you a somewhat slip resistant surface.

Here is an easy option; see 4:29 to 5:02 in this video.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2qvnmNLjPQ&t=302s

To me......It's not near as bad to repair it in a center console, as it is in a pilothouse.

Why? Because you really don't want to turn a water hose on the inside of the pilothouse.

The grinding /sanding dust goes EVERYWHERE!

For that reason.....I'd cover it.

You will note the narely chip outs where holes were drilled.....That because they didn't countersink the holes and ran the screws in....Standard Rooky mistake.
