He's not going to tell you to leave it alone, and if the moisture meter reads high, you are going to sand and fill anyway, so I see no need to waste the money in my opinion.

Be quicker to just take 2 - $100 bill out of your wallet, flush them down the toilet and start sanding. The season is here.

Any fiberglass boat that absorbs water from sitting on wet polyester carpet on trailer bunks is junk to begin with.

I disagree Bryan, but appreciate the input. That why this site is awesome.

Making sure it is dry is worth it to me, and if he can locate a repair (I haven't found one), then I can fix it right. There are some deep gashes that were painted over without repairing, which may have been the cause, and I'm going to repair, but either way it's peace of mind for me, I'm no expert.

I had the boat inspected and the hull is dry. There is evidence of a hull repair, but it's hard to say what happened, the work looks professional. The outer hull looks good other than many major dings that I'll be filling with epoxy. The smoking gun is in the forward compartment. On the 2520 you have a rectangular hatch on either side, but on my starboard there is a round hatch that has been installed in front of the rectangular one. It has a removable dry bag installed in it, but when you remove the bag you can see that blown-in foam has been removed, and the area has been repainted. There's some good glasswork in there that I can't distinguish from factory work without seeing the other side, but the paint doesn't match the paint on the remaining foam. She passed the hammer test, and is in good shape, but it should have been barrier coated after the repair and it wasn't.

(I'll post some pictures later if anyone is interested).

That sounds like the same repair I found on my 2520. It was from removal of the original head and plumbing that was replaced with a porta potty.
