Here's a pic of the under gunnel red's I recently installed. I also have white ropes which are not LED on board. Got these through Jim at BOE marine at THT. :)

I took a few pics showing how I installed my under gunnel lights. That caulk holding up the zip tie base is 5200. I don't think it will ever fall off again. 8)

I mounted the blue ones under my gunwale using the zip tie bases and after trying 5200, silicone and liguid nails (dont ask) I finally settled on Gorilla Glue Super Glue, instant hold and I can't pry them off. I will post pics later.

5200 didn't work for you? Mine feel like they're epoxied on!

I used 5200 "Quick Cure". These zip tie bases are bigger than average though (1.5"x1.5"), so there's more surface area for the adhesive to grab. I also roughed them up and cleaned them with acetone before caulking. I did the same to the gunnels.

So far so good. Time will tell. And please post some pics.

I just installed some blue LED's on my 1801...what do you guys think?

Last May I bought strip lights from Accolyte and installed 8 of them under the gunwale. Well I looked at them a month ago and ALL of them had at least one or more of the individual LED's that were not working. I contacted Accolyte and they sent me replacements with really no hassles, took a couple of weeks though. Just wanted to pass this on to you guys to take a second look and make sure none of yours are out, mine were less than a year old.

Anybody use green or seen a boat with green LEDs? The blue looks good in the pics but am curious about green too.

Thanks.

Dana

I was planning on using the green under my rub rail on the outside of the boat 4' on both sides for fish attracting/night fishing. I would rather have the lights above the waterline then below. I don't use the boat enough to warrant the hassles of cleaning the under water lights. And don't really want any more holes under the water line. Green seems to be one of the best colors for attracting baitfish.

Fishdogmoose, you reference Plasma LED and Brian mentioned using Imtra lights from BOE Marine.

Anybody have a comment on which turned out better? I am getting ready to lay out what I might want.

Thanks.

Dana

Looks like Plasma LED uses Paypal to handle orders. Web says no phone calls. FAX or internet orders.

I ordered some lights from Plasma LED Friday, after I left message with BOE. They arrived today. Would have gone with BOE but wanted to ask questions and didn't wait. They left message Monday night.

From the pics looks like they run them continuous where they can. Depends on light design and where mounted from what I can see.

Anyway, info on PlasmaLED now that I played with them.

Again, contact on web or FAX, not phone. They advertise 2, 4, 8 foot sections, or sell by foot but the sections are 1 foot pieces with supplied connectors. Lot of jigsaw puzzle work.

I got two 4 foot blue pieces. Each section they give you the power lead and small double ended prong connectors between each 1 foot piece.

I ran wires around cockpit of my 2530 two Saturdays ago and my wife and I mounted the lights Friday. Under gunwale, below cockpit coaming bolts using the wire tie mounts mentioned by others.

Not sure how well will all hold together with time, will see. If it doesn't work out, will put them somewhere else and go to BOE Marine.

I'll put couple pics in and do in two replies.

Took some this morning wiht lights off but didn't turn out right. All pics with lights on.

Forgot to mention a chestnut about PlasmaLED. They go through Paypal as I said. Added 6.25% sales tax for MA, and the Commonwealth is working feverishly to raise the sales tax to this number but it hasn't been signed into law yet!

More pics from first turn on Friday night.
