Good evening all. Considering tackling my outboard bracket paint failure situation myself. Has anyone use a 2 ton engine hoist to lift their outboard from the bracket on a 2520xl?

On another not, what paints have y’all used? I have contacted Parker for their match. Any tips and tricks are much appreciated!

Look at Warthog’s 2530 thread. He removed it , painted and added a larger bracket hatch from Armstrong to stop leaks. Hatch is a better design and allows better access to inside bracket.

It starts Here. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=12419&start=250

But build a engine mount / storage holding devise before you start..... Laying a outboard down is a sure way to scratch it all up.

I just stick a 2 X 4 inside the tub .....thru the access hole.....It will span across the hole...Use that as a centered attachment point to lift from.

It's not a Easy job to remove.... With the motor off.....and all the bolts out.....You may still be trying to lift the ass end of the boat to break it free. 5200 is some tenacious crap!

Cutting at the sealer and using DeBond + wooden wedges...Is what it takes.

Removal is the ONLY way to fix and paint one correctly as far as I'm concerned.
