GrouperJim,

When you say you run your boat heavy can you give me an idea of what heavy is to you? I have the same boat/motor combination that you have and am getting ready to reprop my motor. Looking to reach prop nirvana and am considering the 18 or 19 pitch prop.

What Wart said.

When I am running heavy it means I am fishing so there is at least and extra 500# of ice/coolers and gear on top of the fuel and passengers.

IMO a 19 pitch is a no go on a f250/23DV. When the 23 finally comes out with a 300hp then a large diameter 19 pitch will probably be the ticket.

I still recommend the Rev4 17 for a stock boat, or Mirage 18 x 15 3/8 if you have big tabs and or a permatrim and no bottom paint. The rev4 will make your boat have good stern lift and handle/accelerate like a sports car......quick and responsive and nice around the dock for maneuvering. It will handle any load very well.

The Mirage will be like a typical 3 blade prop with little if any stern lift but have a little better fuel economy than the Rev4 on long runs to the fishing grounds like we have here on the west central coast of FL. The 18 pitch will be a little sluggish at the start of a heavy trip but finishes nicely as the boat sheds a little gas lightens up a bit

Both props will get you near the 6k RPM mark trimmed up at WOT.

You can get those props a little cheaper online rather than buying from Ken at Pop Gods, but IMO it is worth it to pay a little more and go with Ken. If there is ANY issue whatsoever with the prop, Ken will swap it out until you're happy.

My 2320/f225 only turned 52-5300 wot with the 17 rev4 when heavily loaded so I only used it when fairly light and at that time it was pretty sporty. Normal day is lots of fuel, ice, and multiple divers plus the livewell. Since another engine(300 not a doubt) is out of the question does anyone have any thoughts as to the mirage vs enertia specifically in an underpowered situation? Goal is best mpg at about 26-28mph.-any thoughts appreciated

Tried the Merc Rev4 17 off my buddies boat the other day on my 2310 Parker. This prop makes the boat jump out of the hole with minimal bow rise. I had a half a tank of gas and two people on board with a 150 Qt cooler and all my fishing gear. Cruising speed was around 26 mph spinning around 3800 to 3900. I was getting roughly about 2.5 to 3.0 mph depending on which way I was heading(current and wind). What amazed me about the prop was that I could stay on plane all the way down to about 17, 18 mph. I decided to really throw some weight on so I went and filled the boat up all the way(150 Gallons). My standard 3 blade black 17T that came with the motor from the factory would struggle a bit getting up on plane with all that weight. It would stand up real bad, but not with this prop. All in all I got a better hole shot and a better plane and although the gas mileage went down a tad, it wasn't that bad. WOT was 46 mph at 5800-5900. One thing I did notice is that the motor sounded a little louder????? I might have to buy me one. GrouperJim I know you have the 3 blade now, should I try that prop even though I don't have the permatrim or the tab upgrade?

Numbers collected in calm seas, Permatrim installed, one person aboard with about 70 gallons of fuel and light gear load.

Cruise MPG is 2.1 to 2.2 heading "uphill" with 3 guys and dive gear, turning 4200 to 4400 and 22 to 26 mph (statute).

Interestingly, when its calm out, I can wind it up to 5000 rpm and 29-30 mph and still get 2.2 to 2.3 mpg. It feels like the plane gets up out of the water much better around 28 mph.

I'm going to try the Enertia 15 and see what it does. My local prop shop is insistent that removing the Permatrim will improve performance.

Fueled her up today in town.
Main tank stuffed full (127 gallons).
Iced cooler, gear, 2 aboard, in fairly flat seas, on an end-of-summer bottom.

5000 rpm making 27 knots out of a 1997 OX66 wearing a 17p Merc Mirage prop.

I have a 2011 2310wa with the 4.2l Yami 250. Looking for some prop data with the bigger motor.

Tried the Rev-4 17P, but due the 1.75:1 gear ratio it is not working out.

Ken @ propgods is now recommending the 3Blade Mirage-15P. Anybody running this? Anyone tried a 4Blade-15P? Still hoping to find a solution to get some stern lift.

Thanks

2005 2320 w/f225

Been thru some wheels;

stock yammie 17p actually good all around and best top end(42mph), load it down and it don't work good.

Merc rev4 17p: feels like a sports car lightly loaded, forget it with any weight on board

Merc big diameter 15 3/4'? 3 blade 15p..sluggish takeoff and 35mph top end

$85 15" 4 blade Turning Point..worthless

latest test I got the new Merc 4x15 XC.. $750 beans from Jaco.. and this prop rocks for me. Note I am in an underpowered boat typically filled w 4 cornfed guys, ice, livewell and or scuba tanks etc. Basically worse case scenario and this prop gets it done.

Top end 36.. still cruises at 4500/26-27mph which isn't far from the 3 blade yammie which is 2nd best to me.

Tried out a new prop this weekend.

2003, 2320, F225, No bottom paint, hull is clean.

Bay was choppy, 1/2 tank of gas, 450 lbs worth of people and gear. I don't have a fuel panel, so I don't have the mpg results.

Yamaha black 15m.

WOT - 5500 RPM 33 mph (gps speed)
5000 - 23 mph
4000 - 17ish fighting to stay on plane

Ken@propgods lined me up with a Quicksilver Q3 Stainless 15x15

WOT - 5500 RPM 36 mph
5000 - 33 mph
4000 - 22 mph
Note - Jumped on plane quick with no help from stock trim tabs

Engine currently sits as low as it can go, and has permatrim installed. I plan on raising the engine one hole at a time to find the sweet spot. Does anyone out there see anything wrong with the new numbers? Could I be doing better? Or does this prop look like it will work? Thanks

Raise her up and tell us. I will look at mine tomorrow and post my mounting height. My current combo rocks. Always looking to tweak it for the better-Mark

My 2006 2520XL twin 150 Yamaha’s
Stock stainless painted black 3 blade 13-3/4 x 19 p
Looking through pics as I want to go to 17p props my numbers are as follows:
Full tank fuel
5200 rpm 42 mph 28.4 gph
4500 rpm 36 mph 16.5 gph or 2.2 mpg
Half to 3/4 tank fuel
4300 rpm 34 mph 14.7 gph or 2.3 mpg
4200 rpm 33mph 2.2 mpg
I know I have had this boat up to 47 mph around 56-5700 rpm. These were actual pictures I could find to get real numbers. I’ve been looking around for some 17p props. Any recommendations?

I’ve always been curious since I have permatrims on twins if I would need a larger prop like many are using or stay with a 13-14” props and go down to 17’s or try larger Diameter and less pitch. I don’t need to be going 50 mph in a 25’ parker. I would like to get close to the 6000 rpm and better fuel economy. I think the best I’ve seen was around 2.5 mpg around 30 mph in the 12-13 gph range.

Ok so looking for some options / opinions and feedback.
Running a 2510 deep v single F250 on a Bracket. Prop is a 14 5/8x17 Rev 4
Fully loaded with fuel some gear and 2 guys my cruise numbers were
Cruise 19-21kts at 45-4700
Wot was 5900 @ 27kts

Now I know I’m slipping good WOT wondering what direction I can go with for a prop to get my top end to about 33kts keeping my cruise in the Low to mid 20’s. I know she won’t be the fastest thing with a single 250.

Prop has the plugs in. Thanks guys
