After two knots on my noggin (seem to learn slow) I put a piece of pipe insulation on the roof overhang over the door and no new knots since.

I used the pipe insulation type with the slick paper over the glue so instead of the glue holding the pipe insulation in a closed circle around a pipe, it has its two edges of glue holding it on the roof overhang. I just cut it to length then placed it on the overhang and pulled away the plastic strips.

So far it has weathered washing the boat and the sun. Kept another 2 ft. piece aboard in case it blows away, but seems to be staying in place.

I've whacked my melon on lots of stuff on the boat, but not there... yet.

Well after having the gray foam strip in place for four monhs, I have quit even coming close to hitting the last of my 6' 3" scalp on anything entering the cabin. Used to be the roof overhang or the door frame (I could see no way to bumber the door frame so I did the overhang).

I think the foam saved me a few time after I put it on then it seems to be more of a visual clue than a protector. I suspect if and when it falls off, I may leave it off now that I am finally trained.

Not sure it it helps my tall guests but may try to watch that one day.

One way or another, my chrome dome is scar free.

This was a serious problem for a long time. Finally I applied a strip of reflective tape to the cabin roof overhang. I cut the tape to match the width of the door. When entering the cabin the tape draws your attention to the overhang. No more headaches!

I think parker might fall victim to a class action lawsuit due to the low opening on the door to the pilot house. (just kidding!) I smacked my head so hard on it last weekend that I split the top of my favorite fishing hat clean open from one side to the other, and I actually heard something in my neck crack. I was rushing to get to the wheel from the deck for some reason that now esacpes me (due to acute brain damage no doubt) and WHAMO.

Hopefully that will be the last time, but somehow I doubt it. RIP to my favorite hat.....

I put a chunk of a kid's swimming noodle on the entryway to my berth. You can see it just above my knuckles on this pic from the oil change thread I started. It is the long pink thing.
