^ As soon as I get the cover all the way off, photos will be right up!

Weather is still a little dicey here (just north of Boston) and with the boat in the backyard, everything that falls from the trees ends up in and on the boat. At the moment, I've got the cover rolled up and clipped to to the rails...just enough for me to get around and do my thing.

Order of business over the next week of so:
1. Take cover off
2. Take photos
3. Splash

Sign of the season... I spent about 8 hours today compounding my 2110 hull/cabin tops and rear deck area. I use an inexpensive (Harbor Freight) dual action variable speed 6" buffer and for the first time I'm using Yacht Brite compound and polish. The manufacture claims that the compound is starts off as a heavier grit which breaks down during use to a finer grit. Gotta say that both products worked as advertised. At this rate, I hope to be in the water in a week or so. :D

What do you think of the HF buffer? I don't have Makita money but have a 17' and a 19' I really don't want to do by hand. Jeep needs some love too...

Brad-
Seems to work as advertised. Variable speed and dual action which is what the Yacht Brite compound recommended (slow speed). Seems well made with the only exception of the on/off switch that is a little odd to work. I got through the hull/cockpit and cabin top in pretty short order. It uses velcro to attach foam pads...they were $5-6 or so at HF also.

I have a high speed buffer as well and always seem to get swirls and/or marks in the finish as I don't use it enough to really develop a good feel for using it.

Currently $60. I've read that with a coupon it's even less.

Todays progress report...

I can now call the hull below the rub rail complete.
Three days worth of work removing the old logos, compounding, waxing with a cleaner wax, and finally a coat of polish (with teflon).
My body is not happy throwing the Makita around for 2 days, but the hull looks bangin`.

Decided I'm going to add some color to her this year.
Going to add a 2" "Olympic Blue" boot stripe 1" above the bottom paint this year.

Don't think I can manage putting it on myself, so Jim Maier (of BOE Marine) offered a second set of hands when I'm ready.
Stay tuned...

It looks like we have a weather system entering the region tonight thru Friday, so that should allow my body to recover a bit.
Once I get back on the boat, I'll be doing the tedious work of detailing the topsides.
The results are never as dramatic as the hull, so photos might not be posted quite as often.

Mike... Look at my photos again and you'll see a 25' Stamas CC on a trailer on my port side.
I looked today, and that boat is an 06. Mine is a 96. Look at the condition of the two hulls.

Thanks for the heads up. Think I might get one.

As predicted... progress, now that I'm working on the topsides, is not as dramatic, but I did make headway today.

The top of the pilothouse got two coats of wax today, as did the cockpit washboards.
The trunk cabin area behind the outrigger bases was hand waxed as were the outrigger bases themselves and 1/4 of the roof overhang.
Windows are done too.

Note... If your windows are spotted due to water and salt, a thorough hand waxing with a quality cleaner wax will remove the spots and leave the windows totally spot free. :)

The roof overhang and the areas around the windows will be next after the weather system expected tonight moves through.

Todays weather was cloudy and cool with a few sprinkles.
Not enough to stop me, so todays progress included compound and wax of the trunk cabin.

The topside cabin was completed with one pass of compound, and one pass of cleaner wax.
Tomorrow the entire cabin will get another coat of polish.
Motor service is planned for Wed, so I'd also like to get 2 coats of wax on the outboard.

After all that is done, I'll lay down a coat of wax on the forward non-skid and on the bow railings.

Getting closer to having the outside done.
Will work on the interior once I get her back into my slip.

Looks great Kev! Are retired firemen availible for hire to detail boats? I finally got mine washed this past weekend but she sits under a tree.

A guy in the BOE lot asked me that yesterday.
I told him that I get $100/hr and I already had 60 hours into this job and I wasn't through yet.

Of course, I didn't tell him it was my boat. :D

That isnt a bad rate, especially considering the quality of work

I will likely get to detail my boat after trophy season. If I get my charter boat license before trophy season is over I may even hire someone to do it for me :)

Coming right up...

Todays progress...

Details, details, details...
I have decided to replace my drop curtains because the stitching is coming apart, and I am tired of dealing with the windows.
Got a referral from Jim Maier at BOE Marine for a local canvas guy. Called him yesterday and he stopped by the boat that evening.
This morning I had a detailed quote in my email. Talk about customer service! :)
If anyone in the area needs canvas work done, let me know and I'll give you the info.

The curtains will be replaced with the same color Sunbrella fabric, but without the windows.
I never run the boat with the drop curtains down, so windows aren't needed.
Less sun damage, and less 'prying eyes' without them. Not to mention that they will roll up much nicer without windows.

He is also going to make me a custom cover for my rear station, so I can retire that old outboard motor cover and bungees! :D

Spent a LOT of time today detailing the outboard. That thing was worse than I had imagined, but she is clean now!
Two coats of cleaner wax and one coat of polish should keep her from looking her age.
I even polished the prop with bronze wool and Woodys Wax.
BOE Marine is supposed to be doing the motor service, and raising the outboard tomorrow, so she might need a touch-up before being splashed..

The rest of my day was spent detailing the pilothouse, the underside of the pulpit, and the anchor.
She isn't complete, but I'm getting there.
