Got a lot done today even though the temperature never got above 46 degrees.
Started at the bow, and worked the 'splatter non-skid' all the way back to the beginning of the cockpit.
Worked both sides with some 3M cleaner wax that had a more aggressive cleaner in it than the Starbrite product I had been using.
Worked each side of the bow a foot or two at a time taking care not to wrap up the electrical cord, or fall off the side of the boat.
Once I was done with the bow section, I turned my attention to the washboards surrounding the cockpit.
Since the access was better, this wasn't as backbreaking or tedious as the bow sections.
After everything was done with the yellow wool pads, I switched to a white wool pad and began buffing my work.
The 3M product returned a very nice shine, and I worked the entire walkway all the way to the stern with a single white wool pad.
I have to say that I am happy with the results.
The rest of the day was spent working on details, such as the bow railing and the underside of the bow pulpit.
No photos, as there wasn't really much to see. The shine in the washboard gelcoat is quite nice though.
BOE Marine told me that my bottom paint came in today, so I'm 'on the schedule' for that to be done.
They will be using an 'eco friendly' non-copper based bottom paint from Pettit that has been tested in this area, and should be safe for the aluminum motor bracket.
We shall see how well it works when she is pulled next winter!
Getting closer...
