Last thing I did today before buttoning up the boat before the coming rain was to re-install my solar powered deck fans.
Hopefully the weather will have cleared by Friday for a possible launch.

Here we go... Splash day 2014 (finally).

The horrendous rain we have had for the past several days finally passed, and today dawned sunny and almost completely without wind.
The Bay was like glass. :D

Got to the BOE lot early to prep the boat, and Jim already had her on the trailer and ready to go. :)
The launch was an uneventful drop-in at the Matapeake ramp, and off I went.

Because of the severe weather the past few days, there were huge pods of debris in the Bay.
Lots of logs, and what looked like remnants of docks, along with general trash, all held in tight pods.
Going out, I ran slow... and saw a DNR police boat watching the Matapeake exit.
Figured he'd pull me over for an inspection, but apparently he liked how I looked and let me pass. :)

Once I got into the middle of the bay, the debris fields left me and I pushed her harder.
I wanted to see how well my mechanic had worked the motor, and he didn't disappoint.
5200 RPM at a little over 31 knots. Not too shabby for an 18 year old 225hp OX66 pushing 4 tons of boat. :)

Once I got her in to the creek I opened her up again, and she sung that song. 8)
Put her in the slip... loaded some of her gear on board... and gave her a good bath.

The Admiral and I even had happy hour on board tonight.
Life is good!

Nice Kev, let the season begin!

Absolutely.

I have the outrigger poles in the driveway polishing them with rubbing compound, then giving them a coat of wax.
Once the 'riggers are on board, I can load my fishing gear and the season begins! :D

.............And another season begins... :D Great job Kevin!

She's ready for another 30 years! A True Classic Parker in every sense.

"They just don't make 'em like that any more"

Todays project (and a few photos)...
Polish, wax, and re-install the outrigger poles.

The method used to polish the outrigger poles to 'like new' was essentially the same thing you would do to polish any aluminum tubing on your boat.
Folks with CC's and t-tops know this drill well, so I used those same methods on the aluminum outriggers.

The more tedious part of refinishing the aluminum was the polishing.
I used an automotive 'red' compound which allowed me to really work the oxidation out of the pipe and buff it to it's previous shine.
Once the polishing was done, I coated everything in a good automotive cleaner wax and they came as good as new. :)

Now... my old Jeep Cherokee had a roof rack, but the new Jeep Wrangler does not. :(
How to transport a pair of 19' poles one mile to the marina?
LOTS of old bath towels (now shop towels) to cushion everything, and a ratchet strap run around the top and through the rear windows.
Worked like a charm.

Got to the boat and re-installed... untangled the rigging  and had a celebratory beer.
Now we fish. :)

One question, what's the deal with what looks to be red and green electrical tape wrapped around your bow rail on each side of the pulpit?

Sorry for the delay... been away on vacation without net access.
The tape is a visual clue to guests reminding them of of the rules of the road.
We boat and fish in an area that has a lot of sail and power traffic, including sailboat races at the mouth of the Severn River.

I got tired of being in the cockpit setting the trolling rods and have the person at the helm constantly asking "who has the right-of-way here?".
Now I just tell them to look at the red and the green and operate accordingly... but to avoid a collision at all costs because not everyone knows the rules.
I tell them... If they 'see green', they have the right-of-way. If they 'see red', you have the right-of-way. If you're not sure, ask me. :)

I actually got the idea from a sailboat slipped near me that had it's sail lines color coded that way. :)

Megabyte- what do you use to clean the white rubber pieces of your outriggers? My backrest on the leaning post has the same type and it is black.
Your thread has helped me a lot over the years. More for inspiration than anything! I need to change my name to 3rdParker. I just upgraded from 21 SE to 23 SE. I started with a 17'. Love the Parker brand!
