That’s awesome!! I’ll definitely be reaching out to you with some questions myself! As far as the scuppers go, that’s a good question. I’ll make a note of it when I go out next but from I can tell they definitely look low!!! So do you have a wet ride? Are you thinking the solution is View attachment 31131different scuppers or relocation?
I use duckbill scuppers to keep the water out. Also drilled holes on the bottom of the scupper wells inside to let any trickle get to the bilge pump. Neither solution is great. My long-term plan is to move the fuel tank forward when it needs to be replaced to the space where the in-floor bait well is. Parker also told me that the scupper tubes drop 4 inches & turn towards the sides of the boat. They recommended making the drop 2 inches & running the pipes straight to raise them substantially.

There are different manufactures of Ping Pong Ball scuppers. The balls and pocket need to be Clean. Flow-Max Ball Scupper are the only ones you want. They have 1 screw that does not go in the hull....Remove that screw and twist.....They come apart to clean.

The Other style you have to unbed the screws in the transom....You do not want those.
 
Why not just use that giant one in the floor. Mine works great.
The live well will keep the bait alive but not happy, at least not for long. Multi day trips here in so cal are highly dependent on quality bait, which requires much better systems than the factory live well. My live well will be better served as a fish hold, but that’s just my opinion

It’s worth checking the condition of the little plastic seal piece that creates the seat for the ball to seal against. Over time, they become hard and less flexible and are much less effective at keeping water out. When that happens, it’s time to replace them.
 
Probably a stupid question but should I be concerned that the scuppers are below the water line like this? Is it uncommon?

Cleaned and Reinstalled the scuppers, thanks for the suggestion.

Alright, other than my sea trial I took her out for the first time and was able to do a very thorough systems check. Everything I discovered I already knew about, so no new problems….yet! Haha

I was able to launch the new boat from a new trailer essentially solo and without issue. My wife joined me so she just made sure the boat didn’t float away lol. All in all very easy, just like my previous 20’ CC.

Motor started up first try and purred like a kitten, it made me a bit nervous not having a kicker motor like my last boat but it seems like many people agree a solid/well maintained main outboard is sufficient. Especially due to the unnecessary extra weight in the rear the kicker would cause. I’ll have to get use to the feeling of not having one I guess.

We motores about 10 miles and dropped anchor, at least I tried lol(see the BAD section). Once we stopped I thew a line out and popped some celebratory champaign. What a nice feeling that was, wife couldn’t have been happier.

Scuppers we’re dry and functioned perfectly, electronics, pumps, and other boating accessories functioned as expected. After a few hours we motored back and loaded her back onto the trailer without issue.

It was about as good as a maiden voyage gets!

Ok time for the BAD..

When I first purchased the boat several small things were brought to my attention, several others I discovered on my own. So far everything is small and manageable. I am currently going down the list to better diagnose and fix these issues but if you have any suggestions please speak up!

2. My Good windlass motor is extremely weak and almost dies from the weight of the anchor. There isn’t any chain on the anchor either

3. My Insta Trim trim tabs are dead, again not sure yet if it’s a power issue or a motor issue. Ill jump into that soon.

4. Found a leak that drops into my cab under my radar unit, lots of other potential leak points. Not soft spots could be found.

5. Original 150 gallon fuel tank, currently no leaks but still a concern

6. Small dance floor for my 48 gallon blue water bait tank, I’m now abandoning the custom glassing in the transom. I really loved the idea but too many issues with weight distribution and the instal, not to mention it would be around 4/5k for the glass work alone.

7. Small group 24 battery bank. They are brand new but will not power my future needs. This includes a MASSIVE 8 speaker, 2 amp, 10” sub sound system, inverter, and bait tank.


8. Funky Perko door handle that doesn’t lock, I’ll be replacing this with the locking version

So that’s it for now, I said everything is small and manageable (I suppose with the exception of the fuel tank). I’m also sure more will pop up as time goes on.


Next up, the UGLY

-Are they on different switches? If so, the fact that they’re both dead makes me suspect it’s a common ground and that may be your issue. Unfortunately those wiper motors are a ***** to remove; they’re secured with the wiper arm shaft and the wiper arm head tends to corrode onto the shaft. The electrical connectors can’t be reached without removing the motor bodies. Pretty poor design on AFIs part.

2. My Good windlass motor is extremely weak and almost dies from the weight of the anchor. There isn’t any chain on the anchor either

-That definitely shouldn’t happen, especially not with that lightweight Fortress anchor. Does it run normally with no load? I would start with checking the connectors for corrosion, and looking at the cables running to the power source. It sounds like you’ve got a voltage drop issue. If all that does look good, you can get new motors for those Good windlasses.

3. My Insta Trim trim tabs are dead, again not sure yet if it’s a power issue or a motor issue. Ill jump into that soon.

Should be a 10 or 20A (can’t remember which) fuse that feeds power to the control switches. Sometimes it can blow if you press both switches at the same time. Start with that one. Also, check your ground; Parker ran mine all over creation with multiple butt splices when they installed.

-It sure won’t! You may be in D4 territory with that sound system and inverter. Is your current bank for both starting and house power? If so, verify that the GP24 has enough CCA to meet your engine MFR requirements; many do not. While your replacing them is a great time to do the well-documented BEP battery switch upgrade.

Now for the UGLY:

Fortunately this boat as been well taken care of from what I can tell, but it’s still 28 years old! So inevitably I’ve compiled a list of things that need to be cleaned up to get it back to its true beauty.

1. Messy electrical and plumbing: I’m not sure if the bulk of the wiring is original but it looks somewhat pro with proper labeling. Unfortunately after 28 years of added/removed accessories, a repower, and partial electrical upgrades the boat has been left with a sloppy system that’s disorienting at best. Not to mention I’m still having electrical issues with my wipers and trim tabs. I’m hoping as I clean everything up I’ll find the hidden problems. Same thing applies to the plumbing, it’s been maintained but sloppy sloppy sloppy: ie disorganized and confusing pump locations, crazy long plumbing. Here’s a snapshot of what I’m working with.

2. MOLD MOLD MOLD:
There is mold hidden all over the place, possibly even in the carpeting. The plumbing/electrical compartment is full of it, clearly visible in the previous photos. I plan on starting with a deep clean of all the mold first and foremost. Then I’ll address the other issues.

3. Faded teak door and trim

4. Cracked gel coat: It all looks cosmetic but still ugly. A few of the spots I’m going to have looked at to make sure they don’t get worse due to foot traffic

5. Missing Parker decals and faded gel coat: new decals have been ordered and I’m looking for a good kit to buff/polish the gel coat. Recommendations?

6. Damaged cushions: the vinyl is in great shape but one has a hole, others have flat foam, others are missing the zippers. I’ve contacted a local Upolstry shop and have an apt to have them repaired next week

Just a few of the upgrades waiting for instal: audio system, plumping, electrical, lighting, additional Garmin sonar/nav unit, some cosmetic stuff. 48 gal blue water bait tank will be installed next week, followed by seadek inside and out.
