If you are concerned with water into the exhaust thru-hull making its way to the muffler or gen-set, put a weather loop in the exhaust.
Below is a photo of a weather loop for a pair of bilge pumps. Notice that the loops are above the thru-hull exit. That way water cannot back flow.
The same theory would also work with your exhaust tubing.

Good idea. That makes sense. I’m not sure how much room I will have because I hoped to keep the thru hull fitting as high as possible but it may be beneficial to lower it a bit and create the reverse trap.

Thanks

Winter upgrades. Replacing all of the electronics while I’m hauled out for the winter. Installing two Simrad NSS12 Evo 3s In place of my Lowrance HDS12s. Also adding Nac-2 autopilot with a Precision 9 heading compass and a Seastar a1219 pump. Waiting on the rebates from the MFD to come in and then I’ll order the new Simrad Halo24 Radar.

Bulkhead station required a little work to enlarge the cutout from the HDS to the NSS12. The controls had to be moved to the right slightly over 1/4” to make it all fit.

After the jigsaw and epoxy work.

Finished up installing a new VHF radio and remote.

The Simrad RS35 is on clearance for $229, which is almost half off. It has AIS and is connected to my Simrad MFD with Nema 2000 so it shows the targets and I’m able to initiate a call right from the MFD. I also installed the HS35 wireless remote for my rear station.

Not sure how loud the handset is so I may also add a speaker for the rear deck eventually.

Precision 9 mounted.

Autopilot controller is mounted and wired up, but I ran into a problem plumbing the pump. I
have Seastar helms and cylinder. But some how they used Hynautic hoses for the bulkhead connection which will not fit the fittings on my autopilot pump.

They say “SAE 6h”. I can only assume they’re 45 degree jic size 6 fittings.

Going to try and source a jic to 1/4npt that will screw into the pump.

Looking good [emoji1303]. Your ahead of me, I’m installing a used autopilot as well soon. I need to source the tee fitting and lines as well (for raymarine and uflex). Where you mounted the compass will it get hit or bumped there?

It should be fine, I’ve never stored anything in those compartments.

If I wasn’t busy enough with my 2530, I found a screaming deal on a 82 Boston Whaler Montauk.

My Bep cluster arrived after a week in transit from 2 states away. Fed Ex surepost is worthless. It’s also broken. Overtons said they don’t have any left in stock so they would issue a refund. Since i only paid $185 i got on amazon and ordered a replacement switch for $23. Still cheaper than ordering it from any other vendor.

Finished plumbing the auto pilot pump. I mounted it to a galvanized bracket and to the transom.

I’ve also realized the boat needs a serious scrubbing inside and out.

Simple green and bleach.
Put it in a 1 gal spray-doc sprayer or in a 1 qt trigger sprayer.
Garden hose, spray and repeat.

It is a great time to ‘test’ your bilge pump(s).

Once it warms up I'll do that. One of the unions was leaking steering fluid for a while which contributed to a lot of the grime.

When I bought the Megabyte, the bilge was full of water because a box of trolling weights were left on top of the bilge float switch.
To make matters worse, the HPU for the Boat Leveler trim tabs was leaking.
Rather than fix the HPU, the previous owner just kept filling the HPU.
Along with the trolling weights, I also found 3 1/2 quarts of ATF in the bilge.

I can tell you from experience, it will clean up in time.
It took me awhile. :D

Started working on the roof repair today. Got the rotten balsa cut out.

How do you cut pieces to fit?

Measure once cut 5 times...

Day 2 - cut out the jigsaw puzzle pieces of balsa for the new core each piece is back cut to help match the roof contour. New pieces bonded in place with resin and the screws will be removed once resin sets up.
